TeamCluster Project System Requirements
This is the system requirements document for TeamCluster Project. These requirements are for the server since
the application requires no client installation. Team member client machines need only a Web browser to
access TeamCluster Project.
- Hardware Requirements
-
- Minimum
-
- Computer with processor power comparable to an Intel® Pentium® processor at 200 MHz
- 32 MB of main memory
- 20 MB of disk space
- CD ROM drive
- Network connectivity to an intranet, extranet, or the Internet, such as 10/100BaseT Ethernet NIC.
- Recommended
-
- Computer with processor power comparable to an Intel Pentium II processor at 650 MHz
- 256 MB of main memory
- 10 GB HDD
- CD ROM drive
- Network connectivity to an intranet, extranet, or the Internet, such as a 10/100BaseT Ethernet NIC.
- Software Requirements
-
- Operating system capable of running a JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition implementation, conforming to version 1.3
or higher of the Java 2 Platform API Specification. All major operating systems, including
Unix, Windows 2000 Server, and Linux support the Java 2 platform.
- Java Servlet engine, conforming to version 2.2 or higher of the Java Servlet specification, and version 1.1 or higher of the JavaServer PagesTM Specification
- Web server built in or connected to the Servlet engine
- Relational database management system accessible through the JDBCTM API.
Satisfying the above software requirements requires installation and configuration of several components providing the runtime environment for enterprise applications
using Java Servlet and JSP technology.
To assist with smooth deployment, we have compiled a list of standards compliant software packages,
which meet all the software requirements. We have also thoroughly tested TeamCluster Project
with these software products, so you will have the assurance of trouble-free application performance when
using them. And the unrivalled platform portability of Java leaves the choice of the operating system
up to you.
- Java 2 implementation
-
By far, the most popular implementation of the Java 2 platform is the implementation from Sun Microsystems, the creators of Java. We recommend version 1.4 of their Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition, which may be found here.
- Java Servlet 2.2 and JSP 1.1 engine
-
If Open Source is your preference, the Apache Software Foundation's Tomcat, which implements the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages standards, is an excellent choice. We have tested extensively with Tomcat 3.3.
If you prefer the polish and support of commercial software, we recommend Macromedia® JRunTM. We have tested extensively with JRun 3.0.
- Relational Database
-
In the Open Source world, MySQLTM is the most popular choice of database. We have tested extensively with MySQL 3.23.
In the commercial software world, Microsoft® SQL ServerTM is a popular choice. We have tested extensively with SQL Server 7.0.
- Web Server
-
Apache Web server powers the majority of enterprise applications requiring HTTP access. In addition, Apache supports seamless
integration with the Tomcat servlet engine. We have thoroughly tested TeamCluster Project in this environment and recommend it
for Unix and Linux deployments.
For Microsoft Windows® deployment, the company's
IIS Web server is a proven choice. We have tested TeamCluster Project extensively in the integrated IIS Web server and JRun servlet
engine environment.
